The city is an object and a city is in transition
Abstract

1. Our article investigates the proliferation of platform-based housing financing and how it influences Jakarta’s urban development 2. Our finding suggests that while the platform carries the pipedream of ubiquitous, vast investment for the small-scale business, including the rooming house (kos), housing flipping project, and small-scale development, its piecemeal projects tend to sprawl into the sub-urban areas or create an enclave within urban kampung. 3. At last, our paper discusses the findings with how housing platforms might affect the city’s sustainability and how urban planning should deal with platform-based real estate investment.
